College Prep Workshop

The College Prep Workshop is a free event that is set up each fall for high school students and their parents to learn about the process of applying to college. It is organized by a team of volunteers in the Tampa community with an interest in providing much-needed access to information and resources to college-bound students in Tampa of all income levels. The hope is that access to information will reduce the stress and uncertainty associated with the college application process. The space for the event is donated by the University of Tampa, and the speakers also donate their time.

Participants will get advice from "insiders" in the admissions process, learn about strategies for writing effective personal essays and preparing for college interviews, and hear about strategies for affording college. There will also be presentations on ways to choose a college that is a good fit for the student, how to successfully apply to Florida universities, and how to prepare for the current SAT and ACT, as well as the redesigned SAT that is coming out in March, 2016.
